This statue was given by the Young People's Christian Endeavour Society to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. It formed part of a larger piece with a fountain and was sited in front of the old City Hall in Winnipeg. It was moved to Assiniboine Park in 1967.
