Despite reports of its demise, the Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation has never been more alive. Tonight corporation officials and staff of Boston urban design firm Koetter Kim will present their plans for the East Bayfront. The scheme would see the area south of Lake Shore Blvd. between Jarvis and Cherry Sts. transformed into a multi-use district with public green space as well as 7,000 to 9,000 housing units, many of them big enough for families. "One of the most interesting aspects of this project is that it includes one of the last bits of the Toronto waterfront," says planner Fred Koetter. "Therefore, it has to be a place everyone can use. The question will be how to combine the very public nature of the area with a densely residential neighbourhood."
