Young Winnipeg architect wins Prix de Rome

The Globe and Mail

Michael Acht, a recent University of Manitoba graduate who put himself through architecture school by working in a metal-fireplace factory, has won the Canada Council of the Arts's prestigious $34,000 Prix de Rome for an emerging architect. The research, travel and internship award for "emerging practitioners" is given to a promising recent graduate from one of Canada's 10 accredited schools of architecture.
