Will Alsops' residential tower
Reports of Will Alsop's demise have been greatly exaggerated. In fact, the much-discussed, globetrotting architect has never been busier, especially here in Toronto, where his months-old office has already grown to a staff of 10 and is still looking for another 15. In town last week to participate in the launch of a Queen St. W. condo project, he had just enough time between flights to sit down and survey the situation. Late last month, the British press wrote off Alsop as an architectural force after his financially troubled firm was swallowed up by a conglomerate called SMC.
